Great white shakrs cover huge distances, but recently and great white named Lydia who was tagged is about to be the first of the species to be seen crossing the ocean from one side of the Atlantic to the other! The shark, which was tagged in Florida, is now nearly 4'800 km from its starting point and only about 1'600 km from Ireland in Europe. If it continues east and crosses  the mid-Atlantic ridge, it will officially have crossed the Atlantic from west to east.
